On 25th July 2010, the Annual Trance Festival "Love Parade" which was held at Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany met with a disaster of stampede at a overcrowded tunnel leading into the festival killing nearly 20 and injuring almost 500 people.
The organizers expected about 8,00,000 Trance Addicts will attend the festival,but the number exceeded to about 1.5 million and the rumors say that the fire department had previously alarmed that the selected place was not suitable for the event.
Entrance was granted at 14:00 CEST (12:00 UTC). The 200 to 300 metre-long tunnel was the only entrance and exit point of the festival area.The parade area reportedly had become overcrowded and police at the entrance began announcing over loudspeakers that new arrivals should turn around and head back. The side of the tunnel that was the entry of the parade area was closed, but people continued to enter the tunnel from the rear, despite being told it was closed. A stampede occurred as the tunnel became overcrowded.
